UFO SIGHTING!!!

When I go to bed, I like to sleep with my blinds open (Yes "blinds" - not curtains!!! get with the program people!!!) so that when I can't sleep I can stare up at the stars and slowly nod off.

So the other night I couldn't sleep. I lay in bed staring up at the stars - much like I just describe not 3 minutes ago in my introduction up there ^^^. See it? Anyhoo, as I was laying there gazing up at the heavens, an odd red glow caught my attention. I lay there for some time staring at it. Stationary in the night sky, and my other window was open so I knew it was making no sound so it definitely wasn't a helicopter. Eventually I must've nodded off because the next thing I remember was waking up some time later - still in the dark early hours of the morning, and seeing the eery red dot still there in the night sky, staring down at me. Not moving - not even flickering. Just hanging there. I finally fell asleep again and woke up the next day, went to work, etc etc. That night I couldn't sleep again. As I gazed out of the window - there it was AGAIN! That same red light hanging there in the sky, in EXACTLY the same part of the sky. Needless to say, this freaked me out a tad. Was I the only eye witness to the coming Marsian fleet, researching the human race in preparation for an all out attack to suck our brains and ride our women? (or ride our brains and suck our women - whichever you prefer)...I sat up in bed, opened the window in a vain attempt to get a closer look. It was gone. It vanished into nothingness as quick as you can say "it's vanished into nothingness". I closed the window slightly and lay back down again. Gazing up at the heavens - THERE IT WAS!!! this time without moving from my pillow, so as not to scare the Marsians away again, I examined the light as best I could. Could I see a feint outline of a craft around it? No! Could I see any other lights attached? No! Could I hear even the feintest, tiniest sound from it? NO! One thing was for certain - it wasn't an Earth-made craft.

Upon later inspection I discovered it to be the reflection on my video stand-by light reflecting on my window.

Gym

This week I've been getting back into my gym training. I used to train religiously until I was diagnosed with spondylollyrolly...spondylolly...roller...lolly...spotty dog? It's a posh physio word for "broken back". So yeah I'd had bad backs on and off for yrs and usually they got better but this time it didn't. Long story short, I found out that I'd broken my back between the L5 (5th vertebrae of the Lumbar) and S1 (1st of the Sacrael) vertebrae and needed a spinal fusion. Other things happened along the way to make it an adventure for me but I'll tell you about them in another entry. So I had the spinal fusion on 29th Dec 08 and spent the next yr regularly visiting the physio. Last Christmas he finally gave me the "all clear" to start training again but I had to ease myself back into it. So I'm currently easing back in. That sounds rude. Anyhoo, since getting back into it, I'm obviously lifting lighter weights than I used to at the moment because I'm not quite as strong or as big as I was. It's very annoying to be back to square 1 again but the more annoying thing is the wardrobe issues. Because I used to train so hard and religiously, some of the t-shirts i wore had become tight in certain areas and loooked really impressive. Now however, they look silly so I'm limited in what I can wear and trying hard not to wear the same thing today that i sweated in yesterday. So far I'm managing, but this has been the first week. Another problem is I have size 13 - 14 feet which in itself is fine. But the only footwear I have most suited to the gym are my converse and it's been pointed out to me on numerous occassions that they look like clown shoes.
Finally, when I got changed at the gym I realised that my tracksuit bottoms had shrunk in the wash. So there's me in an ill fitting t-shirt, jack-ups (with white socks), clown shoes, and weights that I can't wait to get past. Oh yeah, it gets worse. I was doing my chest and shoulders tonight. One particular chest exercise I did was "flys" (google it, it'll take too long to explain). So I'm doing them with a dumbell in each hand and thinking "bloody hell" (yes, I swear to myself sometimes. But I can cos I'm ok with it) "Bloody hell, my left arm's not doing very well tonight - it can't be that tired already..." I finished the set, had a rest, lifted the weights to go again and that's when i realised. The weight in my left hand was 4 kilos heavier than the one in my right! Twat!

Past Few Days...

So I haven't done any writing for a few days because of this fluey cold horribleness I must've caught from the kids I've been teaching science. Last night I woke up at about 3 in the morning with an idea for a brilliantly brilliant comedy sketch. Unforunately i was rolled the wrong way - ie, NOT facing the direction of my pen and paper. Fortunately though, I have a dictaphone for just such an emergency. UNfortunately, it too was on the bedside watsit, with my pen and paper. I decided I'd remember the amazing sketch in the morning and nodded back off to sleep. It's now 20 to 11 at night and I still can't remember the bloody thing!

Another thing is I upgraded my mobile phone (the proper name for a "cell-phone") during the week and got myself an iphone 3GS (used to have an LG Viewity). So i've been playing around with it and my new best mate ever ;) advised me to download "Whatsapp" messenger on it. It's brilliant but unfortunately, where the novelty is still fresh and exciting for me, I can't say my mates feel the same way. Infact, the sheer lack of response indicates that I may have become a slight burden *lol*. Ah well, you only live once. Well, unless you're Budhist.
Ooh something else - I spent ages learning how to transfer stuff from my old pod onto my phone via the computer without deleting everything. Yeah ok, you can tut but i'm not very good with technology. Infact, to be honest, I bloody hate technology. So anyhoo, I managed it and spent about 3 days downloading loads of music from cds onto my phone, vetting it as I went so it was stuff I actually like this time rather than just doing the whole shebang. Within minutes of "completing" this mission I'd chosen to accept, I was already deciding what to take off.

I hate technology!
